We would also be happy to feature work on these pages that grow the digital tamil studies community, but that are happening outside of the library and institution. Open Tamil Metadata DictionaryThe Tamil Metadata dictionary will aim to make publicly available a manual and series of controlled vocabularies for cataloguing in Tamil. This document makes provisions for managing MODS based metadata that must align with MARC21 and RAD formats for complementary systems. |

Tamil Open Data CatalogueThe Open Tamil Data Catalogue consists of openly licensed datasets useful for Tamil computing and research purposes, including Textual Analysis, Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning. These datasets were created by community contributors and academic institutions worldwide, and released under various open licenses. The majority of these datasets can be downloaded from the web; however, some may require contacting the creators. If you would like to add an entry, please send it to digital-tamil-studies@googlegroups.com. |

Sophia Hilton Storytelling Fellowship at the UTSC LibraryThis storytelling Fellowship provides University of Toronto students the opportunity to be immersed in the art and practice of storytelling, inspired by the distinctive collections and communities of UTSC, particularly the Tamil Hub and The Legend of Ponnivala (alternately: The Land of the Golden River). Tamil Common VoicePassionate about Tamil? Contribute your voice!Read and validate Tamil sentences to contribute to the development of open Tamil voice technologies. Tamil Common Voice is undertaking the work to develop and release datasets that anyone can use. Currently, there is less than 25 hours of validated hours of voice data for Tamil. We need a minimum 300 validated hours of voice data. Let's make our small contribution towards to reach this goal. |

It is moderated by the Digital Tamil Studies project team, based at the University of Toronto Scarborough Library. This team is composed of colleagues at UTSC and partners in the Tamil community. Tamil Wikidata ContributionsWikidata is a” free and open knowledge base that can be read and edited by both humans and machines.” As part of the UTSC Library’s work with the PCC Wikidata Pilot we have made contributions to enrich the presence of Tamil terms and resources in Wikidata. |
